Mal schauen wie's weitergeht. Der Mustang ist ja immer noch eines der lohnensten Modelle beim krisengeschüttelten Ford:

And we all thought Mustangs were selling like hotcakes, well they are to a point but according to the data below Mustang sales are starting to dip a little even with all the specialty models and incentives. Sales of the Mustang for February of this year were 10,772, compared to 13,367 in February of 2006, a 19.4% decline. For the two months of this year (2007) Ford has sold 19,836 Mustangs compared to the 2006 total for January and February of 24,575, which is a 19.3% decline. These kinds of declines might not throw up any red flags just yet because these declines might be typical for a vehicle that has been on the market 2-3 years, although it might be time for a refreshning or even another redesign to help sales get back on track.

Entweder ist der Markt langsam gesättig, der es warten immer mehr auf den neuen Mustang. (Wie auch immer der schlussendlich aussehen wird).

Wenn ich mir die Challenger- und Camarokonzeptcars so anschaue, so habe ich das Gefühl, dass der Mustang im 2008 oder 2009 sehr starke Konkurrenz erhält. Dies belebt bekanntlich das Geschäft, könnte aber den einen oder anderen Käufer auch davon abhalten, jetzt noch einen neun Mustang zu kaufen. Ich hoffe aber, dass sich diese Anzahl Käufer in Grenzen hält.

Nicht ganz - im Text oben steht, dass die Verkaufszahlen trotz den Incentives zurückgegangen sind... mal schauen, vielleicht zeigen sie ja längerfristig Wirkung.

Leider wurde es auch im März nicht besser:

Sales figures are in for March and it’s another month of declining sales for the Ford Mustang. Sales of Mustangs for March of this year were 14,737 compared to 16,117 from March of the previous year showing a 8.6% decline. Year to date sales for 2007 are 34,573 compared to 40,692 for the three months of last year, a 15% decline. With the incentives Ford threw at customers for March sales did not improve like they hoped.

April, wiederum dasselbe:

Another month of declining sales for the Ford Mustang has hit yet again for the month of April. Sales of Mustangs for April of this year were 12,509 compared to 15,868 from April of the previous year showing a 21.2% drop in sales. Year to date sales for 2007 are 47,082 compared to 56,560 for the four months of last year, a 16.8% drop. Sales have been decreasing from the previous months as well and there seems to be no end in sight. One has to wonder what Ford has up it’s sleeve to try an curb the decline in Mustang sales.

Sales of Mustangs for May of this year were 17,478 compared to 15,559 from May of the previous year showing a 12.3% increase in sales. Year to date sales for 2007 are 64,560 compared to 72,119 for the five months of last year, a 10.5% drop.

Letzten Monat spürten die Verkäufer nun deutlich die Ankündigung des 2008er Modells. Die Verkaufszahlen purzelten darum um ganze 15.7%!

Jetzt hoffen wir mal, der 2008er wird es mit seinen neuen Extras wert sein.

Wie zu erwarten waren im Juli die Verkäufe auch wieder tiefer unten. Schliesslich kann nun der 2008er bestellt werden...

As 2008 Mustang models hit dealer lots mid July and 2007 models seeing some small discounts to move them out it was my thought we might see an increase in sales from the previous month but this was not the case as sales dropped 12% from June to July.

Sales of Mustangs for July of this year were 10,684 compared to 13,711 from July of the previous year showing a 22.1% drop in sales. Year to date sales for 2007 Mustangs are 88,025 compared to 100,995 for the seven months of last year, a 12.8% drop.

If we were to do few calculations to project future sales using the seven previous months sales as our basis we could assume the 07 Mustang will sell 150K units this year. How I came by this number is taking the seven months of sales for 07 which is 88,025 and dividing it by 7 giving me an average of 12,577 sold each month. Then multiply that number by 12 giving us the 150K mark. Now thats not a bad year of Mustang sales but still below previous years considering the Mustang is due for a redesign in a few years.

Und wieder mal:

Another month of Mustang sales comes to a close and with it comes disappointment as sales were down dramatically from the previous year but all hope is not lost as sales rose from July to August just a bit.

Sales of Mustangs for August of this year were 11,512 compared to 17,933 from August of the previous year showing a 35.8% drop in sales. Year to date sales for 2007 Mustangs are 99,537 compared to 118,928 for the eight months of last year, a 16.3% drop.
